That is how long my family and I have been in Denver so far. This first month has been packed full with new experiences. Some of my favorites have been:
-Hiking the High Shoals Falls trail in South Mountain State Park.
-Getting a 12 ounce latte at Cabellas and discovering that it comes with TWO shots of espresso.
-Checking out the local restaurant scene. My two favorites so far are Joey’s and Stacy’s.
But you know what has been my absolute favorite part of this first month in Denver?
Unity Presbyterian Church.
I have loved getting to know this congregation. Unity is filled with warm, energetic, caring individuals. I feel very fortunate to be a part of such a loving congregation. I have noticed one other quality of the members of Unity that I want to highlight: enthusiasm.
This quality became clear to me when this past Sunday became “standing room only” in the Fellowship Hall. We completely ran out of chairs (and biscuits)! This congregation is enthusiastic about what God is calling us to in the future. I’m so excited to be a part of it.
I am reminded of a letter Paul wrote to a church in Ephesus:
“Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do…”
-Ephesians 6:7-8
I feel that this Bible passage describes Unity very well. Therefore, let us continue to work for the Lord with energy and enthusiasm. As we sense how God is moving in our church, let us respond with grateful hearts.
