On Sunday we kicked off our annual Stewardship campaign.
We believe everything we have is God’s— we are only stewards of it. Here is our theme verse for this season:
But since you excel in everything—in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in the love we have kindled in you—see that you also excel in this grace of giving.
–2 Corinthians 8:7
The challenge I set for the congregation is “How do we excel in the grace of giving?”

We hope to receive all of these estimates by Nov. 12. At that time the Finance Team will compile all of the estimates and form Unity’s 2024 budget.

This Sunday we will begin a new preaching series titled Church Words.
There are certain words that are said a lot within church but rarely said outside of church.
Challenge: For each week, try to come up with a succinct, one sentence definition (without googling!). Bonus points if you email me your favorites!
Oct. 22— Church Words: Holiness (bonus word— sanctification)
Oct. 29— Church Words: Grace
Nov. 5— Church Words: Faith
Nov. 12— Church Words: Sovereignty
Nov. 19— Church Words: Gratitude
Nov. 26— Church Words: Worship
Even if you are familiar with these words, I know that you’ll gain a deeper level of understanding after we spend time studying them.

We are having an open house at the manse between services this Sunday. Many of you have contributed furniture and other items in order to make the manse a welcoming place for the next family of refugees. The manse is almost completely ready and we’d love for you to come and see what it looks like. Stop over between services for a tour.
And don’t forget the Pig Picking on Sunday at 5 pm. Please bring a side to share— the main course is provided.
