Artisan Church’s first service will be this Sunday!
Last winter we studied the book of Acts and particularly Jesus’ command to GO. Go into all the world and make new disciples. Go and share with all people that God is here and God is love. Go introduce God to those who have not yet had an introduction.
Jesus commands us to go. So we are.
The creation of Artisan Church is an expression of the faithfulness to this call.
Now that the church has launched, what is Unity’s role?
We are the supporting congregation—we are to do all we can to support this church as it grows.
Here are a couple of ways we will be doing that:
- Pastor Dana and myself will be filming our sermons each week so that they can be viewed by Artisan. At Artisan, everything will be live except the sermon. This will allow Reed, the Organizing Pastor, to spend the majority of his time getting to know the community of Lincolnton. The worship services at Unity will stay the same.
- Please encourage those you know to visit one of the services at Artisan. They will be held Sundays at 9:30 am in the Anderson Building (235 E. Main Street. Lincolnton, NC). Tell your friends! Encourage those without a church home to check it out. In doing so, they may find a community to belong to.
- Pray for our friends in Lincolnton. Starting a new church is incredible and scary and wonderful and necessary. Specifically, pray that God will form a community of worship in the heart of Lincolnton. Pray that God will be glorified through the work of this new church. Pray that the community of Lincolnton will benefit because of Artisan’s presence.
It takes courage to start a new church.
Any time we take a leap of faith, there is always a fear we may fall. May we have the courage to leap anyway.
I’m reminded of this verse in 2 Samuel—
“Be of good courage, and let us be courageous for our people, and for the cities of our God, and may the Lord do what seems good to him.”
-2 Samuel 10:12
Let us be courageous for the cities of God. That includes Denver. And Lincolnton! God has led us to both places. Now, may God’s will be done.
On Sunday we begin a new three week preaching series titled “The Great Artisan.” You’ll also be treated to a new commissioned piece from a local artist.
See you on Sunday!
