Vacation Bible School is in full swing!
I can’t tell you how proud I am of Unity. We are hosting over 100 kids for VBS. Countless volunteers are giving of their time and energy this week. Many are leading teams, sharing snacks, and participating in games and songs and dances.
This is what church is all about!
Yesterday the kids learned a key Bible verse from the prophet Nahum.
“The Lord is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes.”
-Nahum 1:7
The kids also heard a Bible story from the book of Exodus. It shared about a time when the Israelites were slaves in Egypt. The kids imagined what it would be like to have to make bricks out of mud. They even made their own bricks out of play doh!
The main point yesterday: “When life is unfair…God is good!”
I am so glad that our kids are learning this important life lesson. For an elementary-aged child, life can feel unfair at times. Do you remember what it felt like to be left out on the playground? Or can you think of a time when you thought your parents were treating your siblings more fairly than you? Or what about when your teacher’s expectations were “so unfair!”
As adults we face different challenges and may view other areas of life as “unfair”. Problems in marriage, a job, or with a friendship can often make us feel this way. It is helpful to remember that God remains constant in the midst of our changing circumstances. Or as the children learned- “When life is unfair…God is good!”
Thank you for providing the resources to make VBS possible at Unity. Your support allows us to teach children these important life lessons about God. A special thank you to this year’s directors- Karen Brailey and Lindsay Schoff. They have put in countless hours to prepare for this week. The reason it is going so smoothly is because of their forethought and planning. THANK YOU!
See you on Sunday!
