I can’t wait for this Sunday. It’s going to be really fun.
Yesterday we sent out a large mailer. It should arrive at your home any day now. The mailer includes three parts that I hope you’ll spend time reading:
1) A Visioning Letter: This letter explains what we are doing on Sunday: spending time discerning what God is calling us to do in 2019. I’m ecstatic about what God has done through the people of Unity in 2018, and I am eager to see how God will use this congregation in 2019. On Sunday, we’ll spend some time in prayer about this.
2) A Narrative Budget: Your Stewardship Team wanted to show you how your gifts were used in 2018. This Narrative Budget will give you a “big picture” look at the major ministries of this church. As I read through this document, I found myself smiling at the amount of meaningful activity this church is involved in. All of it is possible because of your gifts–your financial gifts, as well as the gifts and of your time and talent. I hope this Narrative Budget will give you a good idea of the ways your gifts were used in 2018.
3) An Estimated Giving Sheet: This is the time each year that we create our budget for the next year. We are asking every member and regular attender to turn in an Estimated Giving Sheet during our Stewardship campaign (which will run between Sunday and November 18). Turning in an Estimated Giving Sheet is a reminder that we can do so much more together to impact the world than we ever could as individuals. That is the beauty of being a member of the body of Christ. We are in this together to spread God’s message of love and peace with the world. Please turn in the Estimated Giving Sheet and pray for the future of Unity as we continue our exciting ministry for 2019.
You can turn in an Estimated Giving Sheet online at https://www.unitypres.org/connect-with-us/giving/. Or you can turn one into the church office or even drop it in the offering plate on Sunday.
This is the theme verse for Sunday:
“God is able to provide you with every blessing in abundance, so that by always having enough of everything, you may share abundantly with others.”
-2 Corinthians 9:8
I am grateful for this community. And I am grateful that we worship a God that shares abundantly with us, so that we may share abundantly with others.
See you on Sunday! I can’t wait.
