We are approaching one of my favorite Sundays of the year: Visioning Sunday. On October 20, 2019 we will be asking one central question during our worship services: “What is God calling us to do in 2020?” Or to put it another way, “What is our 2020 Vision?”
As I reflect on this past year, I am extremely grateful for the ways that God has worked through this congregation. You have brought energy and excitement to God’s ministry. I believe that Denver is a better place today because of how God utilized the people of Unity in 2019.
I cannot wait to see what God will do next year.
That’s why I’m so excited for Visioning Sunday. This Sunday we will spend time in prayer in order to discern what we sense God is asking of us for the future. Please spend some time praying for Unity in 2020. Please pray that God will continue to use the members of this congregation to share the good news of the gospel with the Denver area.
As we look to the future, I am keenly aware that the ministry we do as a church is made possible because of the gifts that you give.
Therefore, as a part of our vision, we encourage each family and individual to turn in an Estimated Giving Card. You will be receiving one of these in the mail this week. These forms help us create the budget for 2020. The Estimated Giving Cards are not binding in any way; they simply provide an estimate of next year’s giving. Please spend some time in prayer as you determine what you feel called to contribute in 2020. I firmly believe that we can do so much more together than we could ever do individually.
You can turn in the Estimated Giving Card in the box in the Gathering area on Sunday, in the church office throughout the week, or online at https://www.unitypres.org/connect/giving/ Our campaign begins Oct. 20 and will conclude on Nov. 17. We hope to have all of the forms in at this time so that we can accurately create our budget for the next year.
As I pray about 2020, I find myself reflecting on this passage from Scripture:
“Every good and perfect gift is from God…”
-James 1:7
See you on Sunday!
